17th century chest tomb of Beer stone with unusually decorated chest, worthy of considering upgrading to Grade II*. Risk level 2/3. Fair to poor condition; ivy needs removing before repairs can be considered. Incumbent to be notified of importance of monuments, in particular the chest tombs. Other details: Photo.

Chest tomb about 4 metres south of the vestry of the church of St. Nicholas. Chest tomb. Probably 17th century. Freestone. A rectangular chest with a moulded oversailing lid and some rather unusual decoration. Each side has left and right pilasters with large flutes at the top and carved chevrons at the bottom, the 2 tiers divided by a bead moulding. The ends are carved with a series of shallow sunk panels. Illegible inscription on the north side. Date listed: 27th January 1989.
