Full description

The capstan/horse whim, approximately 6 to 8 metres from the engine shaft, is a very good example of the type. It is a circular raised area of ground (overgrown with trees) approximately 0.5 metres above ground level. Other details: Figure 35, site 10.1.

The capstan or horse whim was recorded to the south of the Engine Shaft (Site No. 10) at SX 45963 69294 forming a circular area of raised ground approximately 0.5 metres high, overgrown with trees, between 6 metres and 8 metres distant from the shaft. Other details: Site No. 10.1.
