Full description
Buck, C., 2006, Gawton Mine, Devon: Archaeological Assessment, 31 (Report - Assessment). SDV344672.
A small building to the south of the row of mine buildings may have been the Sump house, which presumably had water going into its interior, which acted like a reservoir pond, or sump.It is not certain if the shaft to the south of this building is related to its function. There is no obvious physical evidence for the building apart from its prevous excavation area. Other details: Figures 5-6, 35, site 16.1.
