Full description

1840, Tithe Map (Cartographic). SDV339770.

Farmstead depicted on the Tithe Map of approximately 1840 including the main farm building (which has obviously been significantly altered since this time) and narrow building adjacent to the road.

Thought to be early-mid 19th century; documents refer to owners from this time. Farmhouse originally a very small one or two-room cottage. Extensively altered and expanded in 1922.
On 23/01/1943, 19 year old Monica Hill, along with two school boys from Scorhill house helped rescue an American airman who parachuted with three comrades, after their plan got into difficulties. The airman landed on onto Kennan Hill and Monica and the boys assisted in getting him back to Little Ensworthy. The pilot later landed the plane safely and there were no casualties.
