Full description

Buck, C., 2006, Gawton Mine, Devon: Archaeological Assessment, 32 (Report - Assessment). SDV344672.

The 1867 lode map labels one shaft and one adit, however the survey map shows two shafts and the adit. The site of this second shaft is difficult to locate, as it has been infilled and the steep slope on its east side has no doubt covered the site further. It is likely that it was an old adit shaft, possibly pre-dating Fuller's Shaft. Other details: Figures 5-6, 35, site 18.1.
