Summary

Farmstead dates to the early-mid 19th century, based on cartographic evidence, but may be older. Depicted on the Tithe Map, the late 19th century historic map shows a number of new buildings but since this time, the layout of the farmstead has remained much the same.

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Depiction of the farm on the Tithe Map shows a group of four buildings clustered quite close together. 4 on the Holne apportionment.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Late 19th century depiction of Kinghurst shows the farm to have gone through some changes since the Tithe Map depiction; it is not clear if any of the original buildings remain but it is possible that the farm was redesigned at this time. Buildings are more spread out and a square farmhouse no lies close to the road.
