Full description

1840, Tithe Map (Cartographic). SDV339770.

Farmstead recorded as 'Waterfall' (1739 – House and Yard) in the apportionment and was apparently owned and occupied by a Grace Chubb. The farmhouse is depicted as being at least equal size to the barn opposite it (both are on a north-west by south-east alignment) and there is a smaller building depicted between the two.

'Watervale Farm' depicted on late 19th century historic map. Farmhouse appears to have been replaced / substantially altered by this time (having been depicted on the Tithe Map as being slightly larger than the barn at the north-eastern end of the farm.

'Hartswood' depicted on the modern mapping. Remains of the original farmstead appear to have been substantially altered since the mid-late 19th century depictions on the historic maps.
