A small hexagonal structure of probable Second World War date is visible on Braunton Burrows on aerial photographs of 1946. It measures 6 to 7 metres across and is probably the site of Training Aid 2H, as depicted on a U.S. Army plan of the ‘Hedgehog’ component of the Second World War Assault Training Centre on Braunton Burrows. The structure is possibly partly visible on aerial photographs of November 1949, but is not visible on any later images available to the survey. It has either been deliberately demolished or obscured by shifting sand dunes.
