Summary

Farmstead dates to at least the 16th/17th century, based on the date of the farmhouse (later cottages / public house). Depicted on the 19th century and later historic maps, it appears to have retained largely the same footprint. Site was included in the Dartmoor Historic farmstead survey (visited in 1995).

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments, Plots 518-519 (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Former farmhouse is depicted on the Tithe Map; at this time the farmhouse was divided into two properties.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

By the later 19th century historic map depiction, the building is now in use as a pub and the map labels it as 'Half Moon (P.H.)'.

Some additional buildings added to the rear of the plot; otherwise similar to the previous map depiction.
