Farmstead dates to at least the early-mid 13th century, based on documentary evidence. The farmhouse has 15th century origins. Depicted on historic maps from the 1840s Tithe Map onwards. Included in the Dartmoor Historic farmstead survey (visited 1995).

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments, Plots 370-373 (Cartographic). SDV359954.

'Hethercombe' is depicted on the 1842 Manaton Tithe Map (370-373). Farmhouse lies to the north of the stream with an associated agricultural building to the north, five further structures shown in a cluster to the south of the stream, with a field barn or similar to the south-east of the farm.

Heathercombe is depicted on the late 19th century historic map. This part of the farm is unchanged from the Tithe Map depiction.

North Heathercombe Farm (SX 719 811) included in survey. Visited on 06/11/1995. Buildings recorded include late 15th century farmhouse, with pig house / cart shed (possibly 18th century) to the north and an 18th century shippon to the south-west.
