The location of a possible 'hard' (a firm beach or foreshore used for landing and loading of ships and other vessels) formed in the late 1840s and used until 1856, is indicated on the 1883 Ordnance Survey map. This feature was not visible during the field survey, and the high tide mark of the River Tamar, close to the road, is partly grassed over. Other details: Figures 1, 5.
