Waterhouse, R., 2017, The Tavistock Canal. Its History and Archaeology, 107, 133-5, Figs 4.35 (Monograph). SDV361789.

Shear-leg crane of around 1796 shown on survey plan of the Public Quay. This is third crane on the quay (and the best-known). It has been visible since the 1970s. A shearleg design, it was mounted on the upstream side of the Tamar Manure Navigation dock of c.1796-1800. The socket for its upright post survives in a granite block on the quayside, while one of the two granite posts nearby formed the anchors for its angled shearlegs.
More detail in Chapter 11.
