Full description

Robinson, R., 1976, Dean Prior Barrows (Worksheet). SDV346527.

Barrow D. A circular mound about 15.0 meters in diameter. Composed of small stones much quarried in centre. On north side five retaining stones of granite are exposed from the inside.

(Site visited 21/6/1977) East of Skerraton Gate, about nine mounds, possibly clearance heaps.

An embanked stone circle; an annular bank of earth and/or stones with an inner kerb of orthostats. Internal diameter 13.0 meters with bank 1.8 meters wide and 0.4 meters high. Only three kerb stones left. Other details: B4.

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
