Full description
Devon County Council, 1997-2002, Buildings at Risk Survey in the Devon Part of the Blackdown Hills AONB (Un-published). SDV344048.
Chest tomb immediately south of church. 17th century. Beer stone, very deep oversailing lid, moulded frieze and intricately cut lettering. Suggested that worthy of considering for grade II* status and that if so, stone conservation should also be considered. Incumbent to be notified of importance of monuments, in particular the chest tombs.

Chest tomb immediately south of the church of St. Nicholas. Probably 17th century. Freestone, large ashlar slabs on the south side, stone rubble on the north side. Rectangular chest with a moulded oversailing lid and corrugated stone frieze below the lid. Remains of a black letter inscription on the west end, name illegible. Date listed: 27th January 1989.
