Full description

Passmore, M., 2010, Decontamination Centres, 3-4 (Leaflet). SDV345206.

Civilian decontamination centre at Whipton, now in commercial use. One of three major centres set up in the city. The others were at Tan Lane and Exe Island, both now demolished. The victims of a gas attack would have entered at one end of the building, stripped and showered. They would then have moved to a second chamber where clean clothes would have been issued. Separate rooms were provided for men and women, and the areas providing fresh clothing were separated from the contaminated chambers by air-locked corridors. Other details: Photographs.
