Full description

Thackray, C., 1990, Archaeological Survey of the Salcombe Estuary: West (Bolt Head to Bolt Tail and Snapes Point) Devon, 25 (Report - Survey). SDV345519.

A large wooden post, now used as a gate post, stands beside the footbridge over the stream. On it is carved 'certified to accommodate four seamen', so it was presumably washed ashore from one of the many wrecks along this coast.
