Full description
Buck, C., 2010, George & Charlotte Mine, Morwell, Devon: Archaeological Assessment, 27 (Report - Assessment). SDV345606.
A masonry feature at the south-east end of the wheel pit has been interpreted as the balance bob pit outer walls. The flat rod would have travelled over the balance bob onto a trellis structure to support the moving flat rod as it traversed the hillside up to the shaft. The masonry is 1 metre wide, 1.3 metres deep (on the north side) and approximately 5 metres long. Additional walls and further architectural details aare obscured by fallen material from the hillslope to the east. Other details: Figure 18: site 2.1.
