Full description
Buck, C., 2010, George & Charlotte Mine, Morwell, Devon: Archaeological Assessment, 31-2 (Report - Assessment). SDV345606.
The wheel pit would have had a winding drum, set in a pit or slot on its eastern side, to wind from Whim Shaft to the north-west. This is shown on the 1867 Bedford Estates map, and visible as a slight depression 4 metres long, 0.7 metres wide and 0.6 metres below surrounding ground level, bounded on its east side by a 1.5 metres long retaining wall.
