- MINE BUILDING (XIX - 1801 AD to 1900 AD (Between))
Full description
Buck, C., 2010, George & Charlotte Mine, Morwell, Devon: Archaeological Assessment, 37 (Report - Assessment). SDV345606.
This small building is not far from Shallow Adit, and is shown on the 1867 maps only. Its function may be related to the operational working of the adit. It is small and rectangular, and set in an area that has been excavated from the hillside to form a flattish site. The building has extant remains of two walls, but the tops of the walls are overgrown with ivy. The plan of the building is 2.6 metres wide and 3 metres long. The south-west wall survives to a height of 1metre, but the south-east wall is only 0.7 metres high. The north wall has been robbed, only the earth cut visible. Other details: Figures 7-8, 18: site 21.
