Feature shown on late 19th and early 20th century Ordnance Survey maps, linked by a track to the nearby road (from Gulworthy to Bere Alston). This outcrop justs out from the valley side and commands a spectacular view of the bends of the River Tamar, and specifically of Morwellham Quay. In the Victorian period, high landscape viewpoints were popular - especially for Sunday walks and painting hobby pursuits. However, within the past few years, the tops of the trees are starting to obscure the view. Other details: Figures 9-10, 18: site 31.
