5 Grenville Street.
House with shop, now shop with office above. Early or mid 19th century; late 19th century or early 20th century shop front. Solid rendered front wall. Slate roof. Stone rubble chimney on right side-wall. Three storeys; 2-window range. Ground storey arranged in 2 bays flanked and separated by broad pilasters, the lower half of their shafts fluted. Upon each pilaster stands a large fluted console, this finished with a panelled, round-headed block. Between the consoles and blocks runs an entablature with moulded cornice.
Wider right-hand bay contains a pair of display windows with patterned iron grilles at the top; between them a recessed, half-glazed door with 2 solid moulded panels in the lower part. In front of the shop door is a floor of patterned coloured tiles; panelled wooden ceiling above. House-door in left-hand bay has round-arched doorcase probably retained from the early or mid 19th century. Panelled reveals, the bottom panels flush; matching 6-panelled door with metal knocker consisting of a fist clenching a bar from which hangs a wreath.
Upper-storey windows have moulded architraves; plain sashes. Moulded wooden board below the eaves.
Interior not inspected, except that the entrance-passage has floor-tiles matching those in the shop-entrance. Walls have dado with moulded rail and skirting. Staircase (not earlier than 19th century) has balustrades boarded in.
