Gold Street retains its distinctive historic character. Many of the buildings are late Victorian and Edwardian, with particularly fine original shop fronts. A number of long back courts running from the south side down towards the River Lowman are particularly intact, with some original cobbles and signs of earlier back block development. Photos.
