Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1904 - 1906, Second Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch Map (Cartographic). SDV325644.

"Spring" marked.

McCallum, D., 1993, Possible Toll Collector's Booth, Shady Lane, Stoke Fleming (Correspondence). SDV347015.

Structure on the boundary wall of Stoke House (probably early 19th century), and likely to be contemporary with it. A high quality brick arch with a keystone dated 1833. The remainder of the structure is of local stone with a spring on the eastern side. Probably a well rather than a tollman's shelter, as it is not on a main road.
