Summary

Hut circle south-east of Yar Tor; one of seven hut circles located on Yartor Down, at the junction of the Dartmeet to Ollsbrim and the Sherwell / Ponsworthy roads. Survives as a turf-covered stony ring with some stone visible. The interior is level with some tumble and no definable entrance. The hut is built into a medieval field bank on the east side although the integrity of the circle remains complete. The diameter is 8.2 metres with walls of 1.6 metres thick and 0.5 metres high.

Butler, J., 1991, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume One - The East, 129-30 (Monograph). SDV299725.

An interesting group of prehistoric dwellings close to the road from Dartmeet to Ollsbrim, several of which are scheduled. Hut circle 3 measures approximately 7.5 meters in diameter. Very little of this hut remains; just the base course of the hut walls can be traced beside a later north-west to south-east bank and ditch. Other details: Map 15, 2.
