Shaft marked on abandoned mine plan of circa 1873. The shaft has been capped with concrete and has a water trough on top.

Capped Shaft at North Hooe Mine (3). The shaft was located on the north-east side Engine House, adjacent to the bob wall. As previously described (Buck, C. 1998), it was found to have been capped with a concrete raft, on top of which a tank/trough was positioned with inlet and outlet pipes, presumably utilising the shaft as a water source.
The concrete capping/raft appeared to be in stable condition, with no obvious failures. In addition, there was no sign of ground surface instability around the capping.
