Full description
Berry, N., 2009, Land at Compton Castle, Devon, 23, 50 (Report - Survey). SDV347354.
A shallow hollow set on the north-east facing slope of the plantation. It may just be a natural landslip, but may possibly be a deliberately cut platform, now badly eroded. There is only a very small level area due to slumping but this measures about 10 metres by 1.5 metres wide. There have been a number of field boundary changes since 1840 close to this site (in the south-east corner of the plantation), and there is no guarantee that it has always been within woodland.
