Full description

Building first depicted on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey map.

Small rectangular dilapidated stone building at the eastern end of the shelter which is first depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. It contains a circular brick-walled vat with a fire box beneath it, the exact purpose of which is unclear. It may have served as a boiling house or mash house for the preparation of animal foodstuffs or could have served as a laundry although the distance from the main house would have been slightly inconvenient. Alternatively, it may have been a dairy.
