Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Pigsty structure first decipted on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey map.

Thorp, J. + Cox, J., 1994, Batworthy Farm, Chagford, 51-53 (Report - Survey). SDV347507.

One of the later additions to the farmstead, the piggery appears to have been added around the same time as the new barn. It is an interesting building, being both quite large for a Dartmoor pig house and also constructed surprisingly close to the farmhouse. The building measures 14.05 by 5.97 meters internally and is built from granite rubble with large quoins bonded in a gritty white lime mortar. The gable-ended roof is now clad in corrugated iron.

Ordnance Survey, 2011, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV346129.
