(SX 751 757) Enclosure & Hut Circle (NR).

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1953/1961, SX77NE20 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV283013.

(18/04/1953) Hut circle at SX7519 7579, fern and heather covered. It has an entrance on the south-east side. Hut is within a field system whose banks consist of large inserted stones.
(04/11/1953) A pound, associated with the hut circle, is clearly visible, its fragmentary wall being composed of large boulders.
(21/04/1960) The hut circle, at SX 7517 7572, is of double walled type with walls up to 1.5m. high. It is within a rectangular pound, centred at SX 7517 7571, bounded by a wall of large stones, some set on edge, with a small but well defined enclosure in the SE corner and traces of another in the SW corner.
Ground photograph: see AO/60/13/6. A 25" survey has been made of the pound and hut circle.
Associated with the pound is a field system. In the vicinity of the pound the bounding walls are well defined with large stones set on edge but elsewhere the banks bounding the fields are low and fragmentary. The field system is centred at SX 7514 7570.
