Several water channels running south-east towards Jetty Marsh Quay shown. Map object based on this Source.

Several watercourses are visible on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. A comparison of this map and the modern maps shows that, whilst the watercourses follow roughly the same line, several stretches have been infilled or removed, and palaeoenvironmental material may be present whether the channels are evident or not. They include drainage ditches and a feeder channel which fed into (or was part of) the Whitelake Channel, which has been mostly covered by dumped quarry waste, although part of it can be seen immediately to the south-east of the Hospital site boundary. Other details: Figure 1, sites 12, 14, 16, 18.

Ordnance Survey, 2011, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV346129.
