Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

This shed is depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map (approximately 1880s in date), showing the manor house to have been converted by this time.

Thorp, J. + Horton, D., 2007, The farm buildings at Coombe Hall, Drewsteignton, 26 (Report - Assessment). SDV347654.

The labourers’ shed is relatively small and low and is built against the northern wall of the cottages and the former west wall of the service range of the old manor house. Constructed from rubble stone and roofed with corrugated iron. Wide opening on the east side with 20th century doors. The interior is featureless.
The old west wall of the manor house steps forwards (westward) almost two meters from the north-west corner of the cottages and has massive granite quoins and preserves the remains of an ancient fireplace with rubblestone jambs and a semicircular relieving arch over the site of the missing lintel which may date to the 16th century.

Ordnance Survey, 2011, MasterMap (Cartographic). SDV346129.
