Milestone on the A3124 at Rosemoor. Inscribed 33 miles to Exeter and 1 mile to Torrington. It also has a benchmark. The stone was set up c.1835 when a new road towards Exeter was built by the Great Torrington Turnpike Trust.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Milestone marked on 1880s-1890s 25 inch Ordnance Survey map, 'Torrington 1/Exeter 33'.

English Heritage, 2011, National Heritage List for England (National Heritage List for England). SDV347072.

Milestone. Late 18th, early 19th century. Granite. Upright slab is triangular in section with its canted sides onto the road. Each of these sides has a rounded head. Both are inscribed with Roman serif upper and lower case lettering. The left side is inscribed 33 miles to Exon; the right side is inscribed 1 mile to Torrington. Date listed: 16th February 1989.

Site visit 12th August 2010. Milestone on A3124 about 1/4 mile to the north of the entrance to Rosemoor Gardens. Leaning back in a muddy verge on the east side of the road. The legend is faint but readable, '33/Miles/to/Exon' on the left hand face and '1/Mile/to/Torrington' on the right. There is also a benchmark after 'Exon'.
Set up by the Great Torrington Turnpike Trust circa 1835.
