A milestone is marked as 'MS. Barnstaple 1' on the First Edition Ordnance Survey 25 inch map.

Milestone immediately north-west of Bradiford Bridge. Early 19th century. Dressed granite with rounded top. Incised with inscription 1 BARUM. Date listed: 29th September 1999.

Site visit 22nd November 2006. A milestone located in Bradiford, approximately 20 metres north of Meadow Road, against a wall just north of the bridge, on the east side of the road. It was found to be worn, with a discoloured base and some chips on the sides. Its legend reads '1/BARUM', from the Medieval Latin name for Barnstaple. Set up just prior to the closure of the Turnpike Trust in 1879.
