Full description

Morriss, R., 2009, Hemerdon Mine, Plympton, Devon: Historic Buildings Assessment, 8 (Report - Assessment). SDV348372.

The Smallhanger Brook was dammed towards the end of the First World War to provide water to the new wolfram mine at Hemerdon Ball , and the reservoir was ready by 1918. At the southern end of the dam is a small and presumably contemporary pump house, built of shuttered concrete with a flat overhanging concrete roof. There are few openings, and the double doors on the south side are of steel. There is also a lean-to extension on the south side, of unknown date but probably contemporary with the rest. Other details: Figure 2, site 5; plate 3.
