Two lengths of ditch were recorded in Trench 1 during an archaeological evaluation of land adjacent to Seaton Cemetery. Ditch 103 running north to south at the eastern end of the trench varied in width from 1.57 to 1.28 metres and in depth from 0.31 to 0.60 metres It contained a single fill of dark reddish brown clay with flint nodules with several pieces of worked flint and Early Bronze Age pottery. The ditch cut a another ditch (105) at the southern side of the trench. This second ditch was circa 0.25 metres deep. It contained a similar single fill with worked flint and Early Bronze Age pottery. A rectangular post hole 9109) was cut in its base. Several possible stake holes were also recorded in the trench. The ditches which related to different phases of construction probably functioned as boundaries although it is not clear at this stage if they formed settlement or field boundaries.
