A small mound is visible on aerial photographs from 1946s onwards as an earthwork at Dyer's Lookout, Hartland. The mound is approached by a footpath which is also clearly visible on the 1946s aerial photographs. The track is depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey 25in map whilst the mound is not. The mound and track remain clearly visible on aerial photographs of 2007. It may be that the mound formed the original lookout point.
