A possible rectilinear enclosure is visible as a cropmark and slight earthwork to the west of Downe House. Other details: NMR RAF/58/2984 F21 0041-0042 30-JUN-1959.

A possible rectilinear enclosure is visible as a cropmark and slight earthwork to the west of Downe House, on aerial photographs of 1959. The evidence could be interpreted to indicate a two-part rectilinear enclosure, approximately 105 metres long and 43 metres wide, situated in a commanding position at the 105 metre contour on the spur of an east-west ridge overlooking Abbey River to the south. The date and function of the earthworks are unknown. It is not clearly visible on any other aerial photographs.
