Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, SX76SE15 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV350366.

Site of West Gate at the junction of South Street and High Street. It was very low and narrow and was removed in the early in 19th century. A visit on 16/08/1951 confirmed that the gateway no longer survives.

The 'West Gate (Site of)' is marked on the Ordnance Survey Town map of 1855-1895.
