Summary

Creek beacon, 189m above sea level. A possible reference to creek is crekhulle, 1330, c. F. Cornish cruc=barrow. Elizabethan. Vis=25/5/1960(os) the highest point is a rock outcrop with a shallow quarry pit in the top. The situation is suitable for a beacon, with wide views, but there is no visible evidence of the use. Vis=10/8/1980 (bath). A rocky outcrop, apparently natural. No unnatural features in the vicinity.

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, Untitled Source (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV24.

Creek beacon, 189m above sea level. A possible reference to creek is crekhulle, 1330, c. F. Cornish cruc=barrow. Elizabethan. Vis=25/5/1960(os) the highest point is a rock outcrop with a shallow quarry pit in the top. The situation is suitable for a beacon, with wide views, but there is no visible evidence of the use.

No earthwork or cropmark features that could be identified as a beacon were observed on the available aerial imagery. Rock outcrops are visible as earthworks on both aerial photographs and images derived from lidar data.
