Full description
Devon and Somerset County Councils, 2000-2002, Historic Farmsteads Database, BH040.5 (Machine readable data file). SDV349681.
Shippon. Long, lofted, gable-ended building with remains of a fleur de lis finial. Adjoins lean-to at rear of threshing barn at its west end. Chert; Rubble stone, limestone ashlar dressings. Some reused limestone ashlar quoins to southeast corner. Roman tiles roof. Tie Beam Truss. 8-bay roof of tie beam trusses with raking struts, plate yokes and a ridgeboard. I set of purlins. Door/s; Loading hatch; Metal framed windows/s. Loading hatches in each gable end. The east hatch has a plank door in a pegged frame. Two loading hatches in rear (north) wall with plank doors. 4 window openings to front with 20th century metal windows with glazing bars and 3 to rear with identical windows. Two doorways to front with timber sliding doors and one doorway to rear, at west end, with ledge and brace door held on strap hinges in a plain pegged frame. Drain at east end, now blocked. Hayloft. Lofted, except for west bay, which opens onto lean-to to rear of barn. Timber partition to loft, with opening through. Strengthening x- braces along centre of underside of loft floor. Currently disused.
