Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Ash house structure is depicted on the late 19th century historic map.

Anonymous, 1927, Corbelling, 102 (Article in Serial). SDV257456.

Originally winnowing hut. Built in to slope of hill by roadside window at back to catch the wind. On windy days sufficient air flows through the hut to winnow grain.

Ash house at Nattadon Farm may date to the 16th or 17th century. Most ash houses had gone out of use by 1900. This structure is a Grade III listed building.

Ash house approximately 10 metres east of Nattadon Farmhouse. C18 or C19. Granite stone rubble with large roughly-dressed granite quoins to the window and door. Small building circular in plan with a conical roof of corbelled slabs of granite. There is a doorway in the north side and window in the south-west side neither of which contain any frames. Ash houses like this are very picturesque and are now relatively scarce.
