A worked piece of oak was found at a depth of 22 - 24m at Great Week Mine in 1887 indicating the depth of post-Medieval opencast tin workings.

Site of medieval and later tinworks. Shaft and open work, 1250 feet long by 60 feet wide by 50 feet deep. The Great Weeke Tin Mining Company was formed in 1887 and abandoned the site in 1892. The Teign Valley Mining Company reopened the site in 1896. The site closed again and machinery etc. was sold off in 1903.

Earthworks of a deep and impressive Medieval or later openwork or beamwork situated to the west of Greatweek. The openwork was fed by a leat from the southwest and contains some late 19th century shafts in its base. This is a rare example of a beamwork within an enclosed lowland landscape.

Great Week Consols, Chagford SX 713 875. Also known as Teign Valley Mine, the sett was developed in 1886. In 1187 a 40ft by 3ft waterwheel had been installed to pump the mine shaft, which was 30 fathoms deep at that time, working an east-west tin lode. Work took place between 1886-1892 and later between 1896-1899. The mine's plant and materials were auctioned off in 1903. Further detail on the mine in publication.
