Full description
Bligh Bond, F., 1903, Devonshire Screens and Rood Lofts. Part II, 486 (Article in Serial). SDV6113.
St James the Greater parish church in Slapton. Fine rood screen remains. Groining removed. Two parclose screens.

The rood screen is in three sections and is daubed with brown paint obliterating the original colour and the vaulting is missing.

Good but restored carved wooden screen across nave and aisles complete with parclose screens in east bays of arcades but canopy missing. Construction of rood stair is said to be unusual. Other details: LBS No 99889.
