in 1875 the Bishop of Plymouth invited the Redemptorists to establish a house at Teignmouth, and students were transferred there in the same year. A piece of land was bought on the hill behind the town, where a new religious house was built and many improvements were gradually made. All the students from England, Ireland, Scotland, and Australia were housed here for twenty-five years, until in 1900 it was sold to the Sisters of Notre Dame.
