A sub-circular earthwork mound, circa 30m in diameter, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, on a plateau to the south of the Old Orchard House, Ipplepen. It has been interpreted as a possible Bronze Age barrow, however a broad and slight earthwork hollow that surrounds the mound, circa 15m wide, may also suggest the earthworks here are of natural origin. The earthwork mound is shown and labelled as a ‘Tumulus’ on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map and as an earthwork on the Ordnance Survey 2018 MasterMap.
