Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1953, SX78SW7 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV305287.

(23/05/1953) Group of three Bronze Age hut circles. Other details: sketch plan and copy of a photograph included.

Unknown, 1969, Ancient Monuments (Site Visit). SDV346437.

Site allegedly threatened by ploughing and/or afforestation.

Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, 1985, Aerial Photograph Project (Dartmoor) - Dartmoor Pre-NMP (Cartographic). SDV319854.

There is broken ground and differential vegetation growth on the north part of Vogwell Down, but the hut circles are not visible on aerial photograph: RAF/CPE/UK/1824/3038 (4/11/1946).

This site was considered for designation as a Scheduled Ancient Monument during the Monument Protection Programme. The programme ended before the entire list of sites was successfully scheduled so this is included on a local list of Nationally Important Sites.
