MINCHINTON, 1977, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV2528.

Windmill in ruins at paignton. Fernacombe windmill. Probably dates from sate 18c. Ruinous by mid 19c. Sandstone,, 30 feet high. Internal diam 15 feet, tapering to 10feet. Adjacent cottage still occupied (minchinton, 1977).

There is a water-colour of this mill by swere in the dro. The mill was brought into use in wwii as an observation post (minchinton, 1968-70).

Vis=-/-/1935 (moysey) situated on the hills behind the town. A drawing of 1833 shows it, 1.5km sw of marldon church, complete with sails and miller's cottage beside it. First listed in 1951. Base of circular battered stone rubble, approximately to the height of four storeys. Probably built with others in the district during the napoleonic wars. Listing updated in 1975 (doe).
