Summary

A length of well worn wall along the occombe-cockington border is still known locally as the 'bishop's wall' and may be part of the original boundary wall marking the landward limit of the bishop's manor of paignton. Remains of the medieval manor house, which was the bishop's palace and gave its name to palace avenue, a street in the centre of paignton.
