Full description
Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, Untitled Source (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV24.
Vis=19/5/1953(os) 'the ancient stocks, made in 1576 at a cost of 3s 8d by one john sparke are preserved in the town hall'. These stocks are of the usual type: two heavy planks, hinged at one end, and with clasp and padlock attachment at the other. The stocks have two wooden stands and are equipped with four holes. Considering their age they are in an excellent state of preservation. The original site was not discovered.
