Ashburton - West Street (north side) No.20 - GV II
House with shop. Early 19th century, although it could be earlier. Solid rendered front; side and rear walls of stone rubble with red-brick window surrounds. Slated roof, hipped at the front. Rendered late 19th century chimney on rear gable.
Appears to be single-fronted, three rooms deep. Three storeys (rearmost section two-storeyed). One window wide. Ground storey has display window with fixed 16-pane 20th century sash to left; 20th century glazed door to right. Canted bay window with glazing-bars and top cornice in second storey. Two six-paned sash windows in third storey. Raised band above each storey. Front finished with parapet.
